Some years, I can knock my Christmas shopping out in October—no problem. I hunted down wish lists, stalked online sales, and unsubscribed from as many email lists as possible (shipping was free, okay?).
Other years… well… I know you’ve been there, too.
It all starts so smoothly. You get the house decorated and the tree trimmed. You add holiday parties to your family calendar so everyone understands the assignment. Conjuring the last of your energy, you attend the infamous school concert (and even get your kid to wear that sweater he hates). You are on fire.
Just like a Flutterbye Fairy. (You’ve seen that video, right?)
Because while you were orchestrating the Christmas magic elsewhere, shopping got put on the back burner.
The holiday season is once again upon us, and if you’re out of time to place online orders, never fear. As a realtor here in New Braunfels, I love supporting our local businesses, and among them are seven perfect places to find last-minute gifts. No matter your recipient’s interests, we have a shop for them.
So, dust off your sleigh, and let’s get started.
If you have a runner in your life, you can’t beat Two Rivers. Shopping with them is a whole *experience.* I bought new running shoes there a few weeks ago, and their team introduced me to their incredible 3D scanner. It sized my feet and provided insight into which shoes would be best for me.
Not comfortable buying shoes for someone else? I got you. Gift cards are always an option, or they have tons of running accessories to peruse.
It’s so tempting to choose candles for your friends and family members, but I suggest picking up a gift card. The Candle Company has SO MANY unique products that it’s almost impossible to walk out with just one thing. Plus, the atmosphere is half the fun. As you can imagine, the store smells delightful.
For an extra-special gift, consider treating your loved ones to a candle-making class. It’s such a cool experience (and a memory you can make together!).
This is my favorite local spot for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. A Gruene gift card is perfect for busy moms, teachers, or even your realtor. *wink* Alternatively, if you are the coffee fanatic in your life, swing by for a drink and then shop around the other small businesses in the area. It’s part of the magic!
With the best selection of clothing, jewelry, and quirky gifts in town, this is New Braunfels’s best one-stop shop. Anything you pick up here will be sure to get stolen during your white elephant gift exchange.
Sara and her staff are true gems. Honestly, this is my go-to store all year long. Swing by and support them this holiday season.
When you first enter Bluebonnet, be sure to ask for Denise. She’ll take great care of you.
We shopped for a vehicle for my 16-year-old son, Coby, for three months. Denise was patient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with throughout the process. If you’re aiming to put a big red bow on a new car or truck this Christmas, give her a call at (208) 681-7251.
A Shop Around the Corner Boutique + Gifts
I swear, this boutique has the widest selection of Consuela bags (*heart eyes*), wallets, and other accessories in the greater San Antonio area. Not to mention adorable clothes, shoes, and baby items. My personal favorite is their jewelry, perfect for any mom, sister, or daughter.
This new store is located next to Prince Solms Inn on San Antonio Street, making it the ideal place to shop small.
Marie and her staff are awesome. They have great clothing options for women and children, household goods, skincare products, and more. I highly recommend checking it out.
The holidays can be intense, but gifting should never be stressful. Our city makes it easy to show our loved ones we care—by shopping small and supporting the community at large.
